The St George District Athletic Club has a long history from its formation at a meeting held on Monday 7th March 1921 at Colvin's Hall, Hurstville. As the club approaches 100 years of existence this new history resource has been created to preserve the rich history and great successes of our members.
St George athletes have performed with distinction at all levels of competition from club races through State and National competitions to peak international competitions such as World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. Alongside these wonderful individual achievements, our teams have also achieved many great victories and our administrators have served the club with dedication and skill.
When the recorded history of the club was first compiled in 1962 by then President Alleyn Gainsford he noted "although I have a vast amount of material concerning the Club which I hope shall make interesting reading, there may be some important features of the Club and its members that I have overlooked and if so I hope I shall be forgiven."
